The Sacred Heart Lourdes Society, formed in October 2016, had its first committee meeting in March 2017. As our first initiative, two of the sisters of the Sacred Heart will be sponsored to take part in the 2017 pilgrimage, as a thank you for their long-standing encouragement of the involvement of Mount Anville girls. 

We are currently working on a fundraising event for October 2017, and on the design of a Sacred Heart Lourdes Society pin.

Sister Dolores Considine (R.I.P.), RSCJ and the first Principal of Saint Catherine’s College (1973 – 1982) as we know it, passed away on Sunday the 8th January 2017 in Scotland.

Sister Considine was an educational visionary and advocate for social justice whose legacy reaches far beyond this local area.  The education system is now attempting to catch up with a vision that she implemented over 40 years ago.  A humble soul, she declined to come to the opening of the building that we named after her, preferring to shun all plaudits and playing down her achievements.

Her original vision continues to drive our desire to provide the very best for every child who comes through our doors, regardless of background or ability.   Her death is a significant passing in the life of this school and our community is therefore in mourning.   

May she rest in peace.

Dear Past Pupils, 

Autumn is in the air and hopefully we all have many enjoyable activities and engagements ahead.  The very active members of the 

AMASC, MAPPA, Benevolent Fund, Sophie Barat and Cork Committees have worked very hard in arranging many activities.   

The first meeting of our Film Club will be on Wednesday 20th September and on the third Wednesday of every month throughout the year in the Odeon Cinema, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin.  Parking beside the cinema is very easy and Stillorgan is served by many bus routes.  We look forward to viewing many  wonderful films.   

Our trip to Armagh is scheduled to take place on Friday 20th October.  This will be a great  occasion for many of us to travel to Armagh and visit the school which we have not been in since our school days. 

Our annual visit to Joigny in 2018 will be from Thursday 3rd May to Sunday 6th May.  We have 15 places available but bookings are coming in fast.  If you are interested you should contact Jessica in the Past Pupils Office.  Once again, we hope to have French conversation classes after the Coffee Mornings in February, March and April 2018 so as to brush up our French for the visit!

MATER ADMIRABILIS by Pauline Perdrau, RSCJ, is one of the most-loved images of Our Lady.

Perdrau born in 1817, who would later become a Religious of the Sacred Heart, painted the fresco in 1844. The Feast of Mater Admirabilis (October 20) is a treasured traditions of the Sacred Heart and this year marks the 150th anniversary
