Thank You Armagh!
A group of 20 past pupils travelled by bus and car to Armagh last Friday, 20th October, Feast of Mater Admirabilis. Everything worked out so well, and even the weather co-operated. Our little mini bus was lovely and comfy and very well driven by our driver Igor. What a welcome we received!
All in Armagh were so welcoming, inviting and proud to show off their school. The school has a lovely atmosphere and I'm sure brought back happy memories for our Armagh ladies. It was so nice to be shown around and treated to a lovely lunch. They had even organised a photographer to capture the moment! Then off to see the wonderful art work of the 1st years and pay our respects to former members in the school graveyard. But the highlight was the Mass in the Cathedral. I had forgotten how magnificent a building it is. Full to capacity with all the students who were so well turned out and who performed their duties so well. Their beautiful music and singing soared to the rafters and make the celebration so very special. It really was a very special Mass and one which I will always remember and cherish.
Our tour then continued to the Synod Hall and on to the wonderful library where we were inspired by our speaker who was so knowledgeable and inspiring. Our final stop, on a whirlwind tour, was the Mulberry restaurant for refreshments before departure and a final chance to catch up with all and be surprised by a "goody bag" to set us on our journey home.
What a truly memorable day! It was lovely to catch up with former Sacred Heart ladies. It will be a hard one to repeat but a meeting which I would look forward to at some stage. Full marks to our hostess Deirdre Hegarty (pictured below, right), Goals Coordinator in St. Catherine’s for the day for giving not just her time but going the extra mile to create such a memorable day for us all. Thanks also Niamh and Pauline for coordinating the day.
